Online training with instructor
Designed to help future Protected Species Observers, this training was designed by PSOs for PSOs. Students will benefit from an instructor with 20 years of experience working with marine fauna at sea and more than 15 years implementing mitigation worldwide.
Units cover all subjects required by international standards and it is the first course to include Mexican mitigation guidelines.
Course is taught online and includes 20 hours of independent work (homework, redings, excercises, practices) and 20 hours with instructor for a full understanding and ability to correctly implement mitigation.

- English to a professional level (B1 minimum)
To work as a PSO anywhere:
- Seaman’s book
- Offshore medical certificate (SCT in Mexico, OGUK or Norwegian outside Mexico)
How does it work
Alterseas PSO Training consist on live sessions with an instructor and independent activities to reinforce the lessons. Optionally, it can be complemented with a 2 days practice at sea.
Duration of the course is 40 hours, divided in 20 hours of live sessions with an instructor and approximately 20 hours of readings, homeworks and exercises. The training is completed in 2 weeks.
An evaluation must be completed at the end of the training.
